Session descriptions:

Week 1: What is hip hop? Why does it matter? What can we learn from it?

Week 2: Graffiti: From train yards to gallery walls. Art vs vandalism. What is art? Who decides?

Week 3: DJs: Records, beats, rhythms, and the sonic foundations of a global genre.

Week 4: B-Boys: The most dazzling dancers on the planet. Documentary screening: "The Freshest Kids."

Week 5: MCs: Masters of Ceremony, Microphone Controllers, Movers of the Crowd. A line-by-line Rap Analysis examining the incredible talents channelled through pen, paper and voice.

Disclaimer: Hip hop is a dynamic and expressive art form. This honest and thorough expression can be peppered with foul language and controversial topics. Subject matter may not be suitable for all audiences.
